Student Video Conference with NASA
Petal Upper Elementary students in Mrs. Kim Hinton's 6th grade math classes participated in a video-conference with an engineer from NASA. The students used a program called "Line-up with Math" to simulate the job of an air traffic controller. The engineer guided students through problems with two to four airplanes and the students adjusted routes and speeds of airplanes to make sure they all arrived safely. This lesson from an “expert” is part of a unit of study on distance and rate and is included in the objective dealing with ratios and proportions. For additional pictures click here.
